Happy new year to you!

I hope I can get away with this a couple of days in.

I’m not keen on being wished a Happy New Year weeks after the event.

So how do you see January?

Is it a dead time of year for you or an exciting one?

It’s definitely the latter for me.

The days are getting longer which is great. Being able to go out walking as soon as you wake up rather than having to wait for the sun to come up.  Love it!

If it feels doom and gloom for you why is that do you think?

Is it the excitement of Christmas and New Year is over?

I get that. I’ve enjoyed allowing myself the freedom to eat, drink and sleep whenever I fancy it. I’ve enjoyed all the get-togethers, the Christmas lights everywhere and feeling to goodwill all around.

But the fun doesn’t have to stop just because the season is over does it?

Yes the lights will be gone and most of us are being good about what we eat to counter the excess of the season but that doesn’t mean the fun has to come to an end.

How about you plan a weekend away.

Plan a get-together with friends.

I’m already on the case for both of those. Don’t wait for an invite, be the organiser!

Or if that isn’t your reason for not being on cloud nine, what is it for you?

Is it going back to work that’s causing this feeling?

If it is then look deeper into that.

Is it the work itself, the people you work with? Or maybe it’s your perception that you aren’t good enough that causes the stress around it.

Whatever answer you find when you start looking deeper, act on it to put it right. We spend most of our time at work so it’s really important that we enjoy it.

Whatever your reason for not feeling the joy of January, take a good look at exactly why that is. If it’s because January lacks excitement then be proactive about filling it with fun!

Meet friends, get out in the sun – when it’s out. At the time of recording this it’s beautiful day here. Clear blue sky. Cold. But a woolly hat and gloves will solve that.
