The key to making the right change is to know what it is that we’re aiming for.

Hello, I’m Jessica Hylands Confidence Coach.
A life coach helping you to live the best and happiest life for you.
I’ll help you to do this in a number of ways. Two of those ways will be looking at your past and your future.
With your past we will enable you to clear certain things that are bothering you or holding you back, help you to come to terms with other things and maybe to deal practically with more things – that might be a relationship that you need to sort out. A problem with a particular person that may have been negative in the past or indeed may continue to be negative now.
In terms of your future, I’ll help you to create a compelling and exciting one! It’s not always easy to do this alone. Either because you’re not really sure what it is that you want, or because you know what you want but you’re not sure how to get it. Or you know how to get it, but you’re worried about doing it for some reason.
So where are you ae in your journey of life?
Are you reconciled with your past such that there are no ghosts that keep jumping out at you?
These ghosts may manifest themselves in you not believing in yourself. “I’d love to do X but I can’t. I don’t know how to. I won’t be good enough. I can’t afford it. “
If you hear yourself giving these excuses as to why you aren’t doing things then they could well be shadows from your past still lurking over you.
Maybe the ghosts from the past will manifest themselves in you being so uncertain about yourself and your abilities that the thought of an exciting and compelling future simply ‘isn’t for you’. You don’t deserve it. You won’t get what you want. You’re not worthy. No point in trying.
On the other hand maybe you don’t have any ghosts from the past holding you back. Maybe you have so many opportunities available to you that you’re spoilt for choice and the decision as to which direction you chose to take is what’s holding you back.
Have a think about what it is that’s holding you back.
The key to moving forwards is firstly to identify what’s holding you back and secondly to deal with it.
Unless we spend time identifying and clearing these things there’ll be with us forever. How long has this thing been holding you back. How many opportunities have you missed in life because of it?
Missed, or messed up relationships. Missed or messed up business or job opportunities. It may have manifested itself in any part of your life.
Do you know what your ball and chain is? Once you have it, you can start trying to see it differently and in such a way that it ceases to be a problem for you. In fact just identifying it in itself may well have some positive effect.
For some, there may be nothing in the past that’s causing it.
It could be that your expectations of life were different to how things have turned out.
“I expected to be a corporate big-wig by now. Nothing’s going as well as I’d expected. I’m fed up.”
In fact your life took a turn you weren’t anticipating. You’re now a great artist of some kind.
So in fact your life is great. It’s just not the life that you’d expected. So in actual fact you are fulfilled and happy but your mind is still stuck on a dream that you had years ago. Stuck on the fact that you won’t consider yourself a success until you’ve reached that predetermined pinnacle.
If this rings a bell then you may be happier than you think.
Cut the ties to this old and redundant dream / expectation of yourself and be happy!
Does that make sense?
Sometimes we can feel that we should be happier than we are. We should be grateful with what we’ve got. Good relationship, good social life, good work life, lots of money.
But it doesn’t make us happy.
This could be a case of barking up the wrong tree. You may be living a life that on paper sounds great but the reality is, it’s just not for you.
So have a think about why you aren’t feeling totally happy and fulfilled.
That’s the first step to becoming just that, happy and fulfilled!
