Negative thoughts are creeping in

Are your thoughts creating negative emotions?

Spending a lot of time alone can make your head hum.

If it starts to hum it will usually be down to one of two things:

  • Boredom
  • Unresolved issues

Whichever the reason, it can become quite difficult to cope with.

Your thoughts start going round in circles and get more and more intense.

What may have started as a small niggling issue gets blown out of all proportion and ends up feeling as though it’s going to swallow you whole.

I hope this video helps to shed some light and gives you a way forward.

How quickly do you lose your temper?

Does your temper feel like a special Covid-19 temper?

Are you losing it more than usual?

At times, when we are in, what may feel like an increasingly confined space with others, tempers can flair.

We can feel more irritable than normal.

Why is that?

And what can you do about it?

We are in lock-down at the moment because of the Covid-19 virus.

We don’t know when this will end.

But can you imagine that as you are reading this in a year’s time, that it will be a distant memory.

I wonder what will have changed in the world as result of this pandemic?

My hope is that there will be more working at home and so less pollution with everyone travelling so much every day.

Less waste because we will remember having to eke out our supplies, not being able to freely go to the supermarket at the drop of a hat and stock up as we normally do.

More consideration for others as we’ve had to get used to respecting each others space.

Keeping a check on our elderly neighbours.

Will some good come of it?

We’ll see.

But back to being more irritable than normal......  I hope this video helps to explain things and help to calm things down for you!

Are you nice?

Are you nice to everyone, or just everyone else?

Being truly nice to yourself can be a challenge....

How much do you put up with?

Not from other people but from yourself.

Does the voice inside you keep saying negative things that are making you miserable?

Sometimes there can be an incessant stream of negativity.

Stuff about yourself:

‘My friends always look so good. I look awful’

‘No-one’s coming to speak to me. No-one likes me.’

‘I wish I was interesting to talk to. Life would be fun then’

We even make stuff up:

‘I bet if I join that club I’ll be the outsider. I’ll be the one everyone laughs at’

‘I know what will happen if I go to that party. I’ll be stuck in the corner on my own’.

Why do we do that?

It’s almost as though we’re deliberately sabotaging our happiness.

In fact it’s not ‘almost as though’. You are sabotaging your happiness!

Why would you do that?

Why would you make sure that you don’t enjoy anything.

Ensure that you don’t feel good about yourself?

There are loads of reasons for this and it will be different for each of us.

It’s made up of things that we’ve experienced in life.

These experiences have ‘taught’ us that the negative things are fact.

Obviously the thoughts we have aren’t fact but that’s how it seems.

Imagine a life free from these negative thoughts.

How can you do that?

The first thing is to recognise when you’re having these thoughts and stop them.

‘I know what will happen if I go to that party. I’ll be stuck in the corner on my own’.

No!

‘I know when I turn up at that party that I will be fun, entertaining and good company. People will love talking to me.’

Change every negative around. Don’t listen to the voice.

Secondly, think about where the negative idea comes from.

You may realise that the idea came from one occasion 20 years ago when someone told you that you were boring.

When you recall that situation you remember that it was someone who was always putting you down. Someone who was always trying to show that they were better than you.

Realising this will also help you to realise that there was no truth in the put-downs.

They were things that person made up in order to try and feel better than you.

Having established that the fact that you are boring was in fact made up and not true, will help you to talk back to the voice in your head when it tries to scupper your fun and enjoyment of life.

If you had a magic wand….

If you had a magic wand in your hand, what would you do with it?

I wish

Do you know instantly what you would wish for or will it take some thought?

They say 'Be careful what you wish for...'

Why should you be careful about what you wish for?


If you want something then you want it.


Right?


Hmmm.


It may not be that simple.


An example of this can be wanting to win the lottery.


Universally it seems that we imagine that having loads of money will be the answer to all of our dreams.


The reality is that this probably wouldn't be the case.


I'm sure it would be lovely to be rich in some respects but the reason that you don't feel good at the moment is very likely still going to be there. 


This can be shown by the answer to this question:


Q: Are all rich people happy?


A: Most definitely not.

Let's say that 'trust' is an issue for you.


If you can't trust people now, how do you image that would be if you had pots of money?


Do you think you'd be able to read people better then?


Be able to tell whether someone is drawn to your personalty or there is some other reason they're hanging around with you?


So think about what you want.


Then think again.


Is it really what you want or do you imagine it will be a vehicle to get you something else?


Not easy to think in this way but worth trying before you spend too long chasing the wrong thing.

How to know if you’re confident

I'm the life and soul of the party. 

Of course I'm confident!

Does this demonstrate confidence?

Very often the loudest person in the room is the most insecure.


Do you distract others from seeing your insecurity by giving them something else to focus on?


It feels as though a good way to prove our confidence is to do things that we imagine confident people would do.


Stepping up to the plate in whatever situation you're in.


Do you find yourself acting confident when it's not really what you're feeling inside?


If so, have a think about that.


The insecurity that's causing you to act in this way will be affecting lots of areas of your life.


It's difficult to be happy with the weight of insecurity burdening your every day .


Think about what's at the bottom of it.

 

When you find it, that's where you need to focus.

 

Clear that and all will become calm!

Is your partner right for you?

Your relationships are key to happiness.

What are yours like?

As humans our interactions with others are extremely important

Does your relationship bring you fulfillment and happiness?


Your partner is probably one of your main relationships and so this is incredibly important.


But so are all of your relationship. 


Family, friends, work colleagues.


The bond that we feel with others gives us support. It wakes up parts of our minds and bodies that otherwise would lay dormant. 


Like sharing a joke.


It's always funnier when there's someone else to share it with!


So are all of your relationships giving you what you want?

Can you save the planet with a piece of paper?

Instructions in the video below!

All of us have a responsibility in taking action to save the planet.


When synthetic materials were first used for every day items, how fantastic it seemed!

Plastic is the most amazing thing!

So versatile, so easy to use, so easy to keep clean. 

If we could have seen into the future and seen it's secondary effects, I wonder whether we would have used it quite so readily?

Plastic isn't the only thing of course and there are a lot of other pollutants that we need to be worried about.

Generally speaking, those that are causing the pollution - and that's you and me in our day to day lives - are not the ones who are suffering.

YET!

The sufferers are wildlife and the human generations to come. 

Wildlife is suffering now.

What will the world look like in a few years time if we don't sort this out?

The video shows one easy step that some of us can use to extend our current efforts.
