What does the thought of Christmas do to you?
Does the sound of a Christmas Carol make you join in, or squirm?
"Deck the halls with boughs of Holly, fa-la-la-la-laaaaa-la-la-la-la!!"
To be fair, hearing a Christmas Carol in a shop in October is likely to make us all squirm.
For some of us though, Christmas can be a real problem.
When we hear people moaning about Christmas, it may not just be mild annoyance at the whole thing.
It could be that it is causing a lot of emotional pain.

I hope that you’re enjoying all the parties and festivities leading up to the big day, and that the big day itself is all organised and you’re looking forward to it.
Now for some people Christmas isn’t a good time. This may be yourself or someone that you know.
This can be such that from the beginning of November right through to the New Year it’s a bad time for them.
And this isn’t necessarily going to be about Christmas itself. Although all the whingeing and moaning might be about Christmas and the negative feelings are about Christmas.
But it’s more likely to be about what Christmas means to you, or bad memories about Christmas, or perhaps the people you have to spend it with.
Maybe it’s that everyone puts everything on you, the presents, the cooking, getting the house ready, decorations….. and that’s why you get a bad feeling about it.
When you think about the reasons for not liking Christmas and it not being about Christmas specifically, you can see that the real problems will be with you the rest of the year.
It’s easier to put aside bad Christmas memories when you’re not surrounded by Christmas things. It’s easier to avoid the people but it doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there. There will still be the negative feeling underlying and affecting things.
So have a think about that.
If you don’t like Christmas, think about exactly why that it.
Think about the specific reason and then try to resolve it so that you can enjoy Christmas and the rest of the 12 months!
