How do you know if you're happy?
Happiness will mean different things to all
Would winning the lottery make you happy?
We can imagine that external things such as money can solve all of our problems but in reality we know that it won't.
Don't get me wrong, having lots of money can certainly help in a lot of ways but in the longer term I don't think it would make life happier.
More fun possibly. Maybe easier. But happier?
Happiness comes from within.
If you don't feel that life is giving you what you need to be happy, take a good look at why and make the changes you need to.
Do get in touch for a chat and let's see what we can do about it.
Look forward to speaking soon!
What is happiness?
If you are asked out the blue if you’re happy you may well answer ‘Err, well yes things are alright. I’m not unhappy’.
But not being unhappy isn’t the same as being happy.
If you think about this question and your answer is something along those lines, have a think about it.
What does that tell you?
Do you picture happiness to be a flat scenario with no uncomfortable sights or sounds, or do you see it as a bright, fun place with all of your favourite things and people around you?
If the former is more your vision of happiness – a flat scene with nothing uncomfortable in it - then do you think it might be the case that you are running away from unhappiness rather than towards happiness?
If you see it as a vibrant fun-filled, love-filled type of affair with lots of lovely things and people around you, could this be that you can see what you want and are ready to go out there and get it?
Whichever way your answer may have gone, you have made a start in knowing a bit more about yoourself. Whether you’re running away from unhappiness or towards happiness, the questions that you ask yourself will be the same.
- What would you like to have in your life that would make you feel happy?
- What would you need out of your life to feel happy?
Write down as many things as you can in answer to each of these questions.
This list of things that you write down can be your to-do list for the next day, week, month. year, depending on how many things are on it and what type of thing.
If ‘moving country’ is on there for example you won’t achieve this by the end of the day but if ‘stop smoking’ or ‘stop eating cakes’ is on there then you can start straight away!
As ever if you need any help with any of this then please do get in touch for a chat, otherwise I wish you all the best in getting some structure in your quest for happiness!
Thanks for listening,
Bye for now!
